Let’s Explore

Facilitated Visit, suitable for Key Stage 2

  • Available Tuesday – Friday (during term time)
  • Session Runs 10am-12.30pm

These sessions use contemporary art as a medium to help Key Stage 2 learners explore different ways of seeing. The group will enjoy a facilitated tour of the Turner Prize Galleries in which they will be supported to explore the galleries and artworks in different ways through looking, discussing, wondering and even movement.

After the tour, the group will take part in a dynamic workshop designed to link with key works of art in the changing exhibitions at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery during 2025, especially the Turner Prize. Using ideas and inspiration gathered in the galleries, learners will create their own process-based artworks to take back to school.

Each session can accommodate of one full class (up to 30 learners) with support staff. Please note that there is only one Let’s Explore session available per day.

Educator Led Visit

Suitable for Key Stage 4 and above

  • Available weekdays Monday – Friday (during term time)
  • Session Runs 1-4pm

Perfect for learners studying Art & Design and other creative subjects at Key Stage 4 and above, this session allows for a bespoke visit with the flexibility to work around the needs and interests of your group.

Your group will have the opportunity to move through the Turner Prize exhibition at their own pace, whether that be to sketch, take notes, or just take in the artworks on display. This self-led approach allows each learner to engage with and respond to the elements of the galleries that most resonate with them and their individual artistic practice.

You will have exclusive use of the Learning Room for the duration of your visit to facilitate group discussions, including access to IT facilities and screen. There are also assorted art materials available to support your group in creating responses to the work on display. How you use these resources is up to you, allowing you to create your own session for your group that supports their specific learning outcomes.

Each session can accommodate up to 25 people (including eduators and learners). Please note that there is only one Educator Led visit available per day.
