YAYA, also known as youralrightyouare or the street autist, shares their tips on the technique of ‘drawing your own worry monster’ - part of DRAW! Supported by David Hockney.

Inspired by David Hockney, we’re encouraging everyone to get creative and draw in 2025.

YAYA is a Bradford artist known for their illustrations, prints, and comics, with a particular focus on autism and activism. They have a passion for all forms of visual creativity, especially street art. So if you’re in Bradford, keep an eye out for their work around the city!

This activity encourages you to think about how you might visualise your worries and emotions by giving them their own unique characteristics. Many of YAYA’s artworks explore emotions, often transforming them into imaginative creatures like monsters. So, why not try drawing your own worry monster? What would your worries look like? What colour would they be?

In this video, Bradford 2025 apprentice Kieran shares how he would describe his own worry monster.

Want to try it yourself? Grab a pen, pencil, paintbrush, or anything you have nearby, and create your own worry monster!
