In April artist and illustrator Rose Blake is encouraging us all to look out of a window and draw – part of DRAW! supported by David Hockney.

DRAW! supported by David Hockney is a nationwide project to get everyone drawing.

In April, artist and illustrator Rose Blake is asking us to draw a view from a window. Watch our interview with Rose below and take inspiration from her vibrant illustrations.

I strongly believe that there is no such thing as a 'bad drawing'.

“I have been a huge fan of David Hockney for as long as I can remember and had the great honour of illustrating his book ‘A History of Pictures for Children’.” said Blake.

“I’m truly excited to be involved in this amazing project, championed by Hockney. Drawing is one of my great pleasures, it’s an important tool in expressing myself, and helps me notice details in the world that I wouldn’t otherwise.

“I strongly believe that there is no such thing as a ‘bad drawing’. I think we are often so afraid of our drawings being perceived as ‘bad’, that we don’t give in to the very human urge to put pencil to paper… once you do it feels so good.”

Artist Rose Blake reads a book, written by David Hockney and Martin Gayford, with her illustration on the front cover.
