Professional Chaperones
We are looking for Licenced Professional Chaperones to support Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture throughout the year at multiple events of various scales.
What is a Licenced Professional Chaperone?
Chaperones are employed to supervise children during licensed performances. Council Authorities are responsible for making sure that chaperones are suitable and provide proper care for the children they are responsible for. Anyone aged 18 or over can apply to their Council Authority to be registered as a chaperone.
To register as a Professional Chaperone with Bradford Metropolitan District Council the cost is £70: www.bradford.gov.uk/education-and-skills/school-support-services/chaperones/
Licenced Chaperones will support Bradford 2025 in the following ways:
- Supervise young people throughout their time on site, from Call Time to scheduled finish
- Ensure each young person is signed in and out of site on confirmation they are in the appropriate care of their parent/guardian
- Understand and hold key personal information relating to each individual young person, and remain responsible for this personal information ensuring it is never left unattended
- Attend any relevant and applicable briefings of the event (a phone call may be ample where appropriate) and review any venue and event information packs prior to arrival on site
- Have a thorough understanding of, adhere to, and implicate outlined procedures of safeguarding-specific risk assessments and method statements whilst on site
- We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children / young people and adults at risk and expect all colleagues and volunteers to share this commitment
How to apply

- Your experience supporting children and young people at live events of differing formats and scales and/or at varying sites and venues
- Any experience liaising with other teams at events, such as event management and artists (if applicable)
Please also send confirmation that you have obtained the below (actual documentation to be sent only when contracted for projects):
- A valid DBS Check within one year of the event
- A valid Licence to chaperone child performers approved by a Local Authority
