About Beyond the Spectrum

Beyond the Spectrum is a creative writing programme for Autistic people, led by professional Autistic writers. Hosted by Writing East Midlands – the regional development agency for writers and literature.

The programme takes the form of in-person and online creative writing groups, where participants write together, learn and support each other. It is open to both Autistic adults and young people, who take part in writing workshops, events, festivals and masterclasses.

Beyond the Spectrum groups are completely free to join and isn’t just about writing workshops. It’s about creating a community, and showing the world that Autistic people are brilliant creative writers.

We are delighted to be partnering with Beyond the Spectrum to bring them to Bradford District to reach new communities, with one new group for adults, and one for children and young people. We are looking for Lead and Shadow Writers to facilitate these groups. The Lead Writers should be experienced in running writing workshops, usually with a history of publication, whilst the Shadow Writer role is for emerging writers, looking to gain more experience in workshop facilitation.
