The BD: Walls Talent Development Programme is an exciting, free Street Art talent development programme for West Yorkshire based artists.
Developed through consultation with artists from across the district, this programme is designed to support and nurture local talent, equipping emerging and established mural artists with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to bring their creative visions to life on a grand scale.
Delivered by industry leaders, Graffwerk, and supported by the Morrisons Foundation, the BD: Walls Talent Development Programme is a unique opportunity to learn from experienced muralists, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to Bradford’s growing reputation as a city of bold, vibrant public art.
Graffwerk is a multifaceted arts project team based in Leicester, dedicated to redefining urban landscapes through street art. Specialising in aerosol art, they offer services including bespoke murals, workshops, live art, illustration, graphic design, and event management. Graffwerk is also the organiser of the award-winning Bring The Paint International Street Art Festival in Leicester, which celebrates graffiti culture.

What is the Street Art Development Programme?
The Street Art Development Programme is an exciting series of workshops designed to support aspiring and emerging, and existing mural artists. Delivered in partnership with Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture and Graffwerk, this programme provides hands-on experience and expert guidance in mural painting techniques, design, and large-scale public art creation.
Who can take part?
The programme is open to anyone interested in developing their skills in mural art, whether you’re a beginner or already have experience. This programme is for over 18s only.
Is the programme free?
Yes! Thanks to generous sponsorship from the Morrisons Foundation, all workshops are completely free for participants.
Do I have to attend all the workshops?
No, you can book onto the whole series or choose to attend individual sessions that interest you most.
What will I learn?
The workshops will cover a range of skills, including:
- Mural design fundamentals
- Spray paint and brush techniques
- Working on large-scale surfaces
- Colour theory and composition
- Street art culture and best practices
Do I need to bring any materials?
All materials and equipment will be provided. Just bring yourself and your creativity!
Who is delivering the workshops?
The programme is delivered by Graffwerk, a leading organisation in street art and mural painting, featuring experienced artists who will guide participants through the creative process.
Can I take part if I have no experience?
Absolutely! The programme is open to all skill levels, from complete beginners to those looking to refine their technique.
Will I get the chance to work on a real mural?
Yes! As part of the programme, participants will have the opportunity to contribute to a public mural in Bradford, gaining real-world experience in large-scale painting.
