Thursday 28 August is family fun day at The Beacon in Lister Park.

We’re welcoming children, young people, their parents and carers to Lister Park for an afternoon of family-friendly workshops, activities and performances. You don’t need to book, and admission is free. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Line up

Inside The Beacon

  • 1-3pm – Story Bees will be providing creative activities for children of all ages and their grown ups
  • 1-3pm – Creative Flare: make creative bugs using recycled objects
  • 1-3pm – Dawoodi Bohras: learn more about Bohra culture, join in with creative activities and sample food
  • 5-6:30pm – Anjaana: music from a popular Punjabi Folk Band
  • 7:30-9pm – Playing for Kicks: music from local eclectic pop and rock cover band

 

On The Beacon Deck

  • 12-2pm – Omotola and Friends will bring the heartbeat of Africa to The Beacon from the rhythm of the talking drum to the soul of the sax.
  • 1-4pm – Icecreamery will be selling ice creams for £2. The first 150 will be free of charge.
  • 2-4pm – Music: acoustic performance by Jake Keating.
  • 2-4pm – Pinnacle Performance 4 All: dance performances between 2pm and 4pm.
  • 4:15-5pm – Brave: interactive music and dance activity.

 

Outside The Beacon

  • 12-5pm – Food: Food and drink will be available to buy from Flame and Go and Coffee Bean Machine
  • 1-3pm – Picasso Paint: we’ve all got an artist inside of us – and Bradford’s very own United Art Project will be helping us to set our inner artist free at this creative workshop, open to all ages – all children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • 1-4pm – Outdoor Activities and Garden Games provided by InCommunities.
  • 1-4pm – Yorkshire Water will be providing outdoor crafts and games.
  • 1-4pm – The Fun of Model Engineering: an interactive exhibition provided by Bradford Model Engineering Society
  • 1-4pm – Rugby Tots: free, outdoor rugby taster sessions, perfect for ages 2-7
  • 1-4pm – Youth Service: make your own smoothie using a smoothie bike
  • 1-4pm – Climbing Wall provided by Creative International Adventures
  • 1-4pm – Face Painting provided by Kim Wood and Angela Baxter
  • 2-5pm – Face Painting provided by Henna Emma
  • 2-5pm – Henna provided by Nagina
