Rombald’s Rocks: Keighley Sculpture Trail

Leonie Briggs and Keighley Creative

This was Keighley central’s first sculpture trail inspired by the legend of Rombald the Giant.

Rombald’s Rocks came to Keighley; a sculpture trail that was brought to you by Leonie Briggs and Keighley Creative.

A Bradford 2025 Creative Communities Fund project.

The trail took inspiration from local legend and creator of Ilkley’s Cow and Calf Rocks, Rombald the Giant.

About the project

Mr and Mrs Rombald were throwing rocks again and one of them shattered into 10 small pieces. The bits of rock sprouted legs and arms and ran away to Keighley to embark on their own adventures.

You headed to Keighley town centre to see the unique sculptures decorated by local artists and community groups. Rombald’s Rocks were all around town, alongside a free trail map and free activities including workshops, storytelling, an exhibition and music.

This project was supported by the Bradford 2025 Creative Communities Fund programme.
