The latest commission in our street art series BD: Walls shows the diversity of Bradford’s communities and the global food heritage that’s represented in the newly opened Darley St Market.

Harvest of Harmony is a striking new mural, created by artist Ruth Agbolade.

“This title captures the core of the mural, which is a vibrant celebration of fresh produce, community, and the shared joy of food, all hallmarks of Darley Street Market.” says Ruth.

“This commission speaks directly to my passion for creating vibrant, culturally rich, and community-focused artworks that celebrate identity, food, and shared heritage. For the Darley Street Market mural, I painted a series of interconnected motifs that represent fresh produce like fruits, veggies, grains, fish, and bread. These elements show the diversity of Bradford’s communities and the global food heritage that’s represented in the market. I want the mural to make people happy, nostalgic, and curious. It should bring joy to both long-time residents and newcomers who come together to enjoy food.”

Harvest of Harmony is part of BD: Walls, a collection of new street art commissioned by Bradford 2025 for walls across Bradford District – paying vibrant tribute to our heritage while celebrating our dynamic street art culture.

About Ruth Agbolade

Ruth Agbolade is a multidisciplinary visionary artist whose work embodies a deep connection to spirituality, biblical narratives, and the transformative power of faith. With an artistic style that blends vibrant, mosaic-like patterns and abstract forms, Ruth creates compelling pieces that are rich in symbolism and storytelling. Her work often draws from biblical themes, reimagining well-known stories with a modern, abstract twist. Her use of bold colours and intricate designs conveys a sense of hope, redemption, and divine purpose.

Ruth’s artistic journey is driven by a desire to inspire others through the visual representation of spiritual and faith-based themes. Each piece she creates serves as a meditation on faith, exploring complex ideas through layers of abstract faces, shapes, and symbols that invite contemplation and reflection. Her ability to convey deep messages through her unique artistic language has garnered the attention of both local and international audiences.

In addition to her painting, Ruth integrates sustainability into her creative practice by transforming discarded materials into thought-provoking sculptures. These works reflect her commitment to reimagining waste and celebrating redemption, both materially and spiritually. Through her work, Ruth Agbolade continues to be a source of inspiration for those seeking to explore the intersection of art, faith, and personal transformation.
