Days After Harvest

Double Pivot

A public installation celebrating Bradford's Mango Season.

Event Details
Date 5 - 7 Sep 2025
Location Darley Street Market

An installation project dedicated to Mango Season in Bradford, and the people who make it happen.

A Bradford 2025 Artist-Led Award project.

About the project

Each summer, honey mangoes from Pakistan arrive in the UK in their millions. Having travelled up to four thousand miles to get here, these mangoes are then at the centre of a three month hustle, passed between hands from the backs of vans.

In our warming and warring world, these mangoes must not be taken for granted. Climate change and geopolitical tensions are very real threats to the industry, the culture, and the livelihoods of the people involved.

Giant Mango Box is the installation that has come out of this project. A 14x scale replica made from timber and vinyl, it pays tribute to the ubiquitous packaging in which the mangoes arrive. The construction of the artwork was supported by Raven Staging in Undercliffe.

Featured inside the box are three short films, directed and edited by Haider Mahboob. Each film is focused on a different perspective from within the trade. These are extracts from an upcoming documentary which will be available online later this year.

Head to Darley Street Market to experience the box and short films from Friday 5 September to Sunday 7 September. More info on opening times and getting to Darley Street Market are on their website.
