Created in collaboration with Zayn Malik, this mural transforms one of Bradford city centre’s busiest corners into a moment of pause and reflection.

About Breathe Breathe Breathe

Using confident colour and layered letterforms, Breathe Breathe Breathe invites passers-by to slow down, reset and take a breath amid the energy of the city.

Created as Bradford’s UK City of Culture year draws to a close, the work offers both openness and reassurance — a simple but powerful reminder of stillness, presence and renewal.

The mural occupies a full-height wall at The Broadway shopping centre, where its scale and rhythm hold space within the urban environment. Its direct language speaks to everyone who encounters it, encouraging a shared moment of calm in the heart of Bradford.

BD: Walls

Breathe Breathe Breathe is part of BD: Walls, a collection of street artworks commissioned by Bradford 2025 for walls across Bradford District – paying vibrant tribute to our heritage while celebrating our dynamic street art culture.

About Ricky Also

Ricky Also is a UK-based street artist known for bold typographic murals that combine graphic clarity with emotional resonance. His work explores language, repetition and rhythm, using text as both form and message within public space.

Working across city centres and community settings, Ricky’s practice is grounded in accessibility and connection. His murals are designed to be encountered in everyday life — inviting reflection, conversation and shared experience through confident, carefully balanced compositions.

Working on this mural for Bradford 2025 has been a privilege. The phrase has a quiet strength to it, and I wanted the artwork to hold a moment of space and reflection within the energy of the city centre. Collaborating on a project rooted so strongly in place, and connected to an artist from Bradford, made this commission feel particularly meaningful.”
