From Bradford to the Stars
Download this free resource for KS3 learners inspired by Bradford 2025 event Zee and the City and tells the story of Abraham Sharp.
Created by Puppets with Guts, and commissioned by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, Zee and the City was a large-scale outdoor performance inspired by Bradford’s heritage, culture and people. The show told the story of Zee, a young Bradfordian whose curiosity about the world around her brings people together through movement, music and shared stories.
When creating Zee and the City, Puppets with Guts were particularly inspired by a real person from Bradford’s history: astronomer Abraham Sharp.
This activity pack for ages 11-14 explores Bradford’s scientific heritage through the story of Abraham Sharp, a Bradford-born astronomer and instrument maker who helped map the stars in the 17th century.
