Developed with support from the National Football Museum, this pack tracks the pioneering and radical history of football in Bradford. From the Manningham women in the 1920s who packed out Valley Parade with thousands of spectators to the grassroots teams still challenging perceptions and breaking barriers today, learners will hear the stories of the football mad women and girls who just wanted a chance to play and found it in our city.

This pack includes a specially commissioned poem by Bradford poet and football coach Kirsty Taylor (Kirsty Bratfud) and a range of discussion points and activities to get all learners thinking about gender, sport and the breaking of barriers.

  • Recommended for: Ages 7-14 (Key Stage 2 and 3 Learners)
