About this opportunity

Do you want to be part of an incredible piece of outdoor performance this summer?

Puppets with Guts are creating a brand-new, walk-about performance that will be in this year’s BD Fest. The show will tell the story of Zee, a giant puppet, who learns about Bradford’s past, present and future!

We’re looking for people from Bradford to get involved in a Community Cast to work alongside a professional team of puppeteers and performers. Being in the Community Cast will involve attending three rehearsals and the performance day. During rehearsals you will design your own giant cardboard cars to wear in the show, learn easy choreography pieces and rehearses the entire show with the Puppets with Guts team.

If you want to be part of this exciting opportunity, learn new skills, gain confidence and perform as part of BD Fest – follow the link below!

Will I be paid?

This is a voluntary opportunity, you will not be paid for your time. We have a travel budget for people who would not be able to access the sessions without assistance, from within the Bradford District. We will provide refreshments at each session. We can also cover access support costs.

How will you choose participants?

We are looking for a balance of younger and older performers with a mix of backgrounds, gender identities and life experience. The cast will reflect the people of Bradford.

Can I bring friends and family with me?

If you know people who want to take part, encourage them to apply for themselves. We need separate applications from everyone so we have all the correct information. See below if you are under 18. The performance is public and free, so all your fans can come and watch you!

What will I be wearing?

You will wear something from your own wardrobe that’s simple and comfortable. You’ll be given a steer on colour (grey, dark grey, black) and type from the costume team, but the key is to be comfortable, prepared for all weathers and relaxed. You will not need to spend any of your own money buying new clothes for this performance; we’ll work with what you have! You will be given a hoodie to wear during this performance.
