We joined The People Powered Press, in Saltaire, for a hands on letterpress printing workshop, where you got to take away your own giant print, made on the press.

The People Powered Press, is recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest letterpress of its kind in the world.

We joined the team for 4 letterpress printing workshops in 2025, where you learnt about typography design and letterpress printing. This was a relaxed session, open to all abilities.

What to expect:

In this workshop, with the help of their Printmaker Sophie, you designed your print, set the individual letters on the press, learnt how to space and lock them in place, then inked them up to create your own giant print.

What to bring with you:

Clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting a little bit dirty, though we’ll provide you with an apron.
If you have long hair, please bring something you can use to tie it back.
Don’t wear anything too flowy, especially baggy sleeves, to avoid getting trapped in the press’s roller or dangling in the ink.
