Launch of the National Young Poet Laureate programme

In partnership with National Poetry Centre.

From Bradford to the world: this event celebrated the launch of a programme that puts poetry at the heart of everyday experience in schools across England.

The UK’s Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin  joined special guests for a night of celebration, including short performances by young poets from the hugely successful West Yorkshire Young Poet Laureate pilot programme.

Created by National Poetry Centre in partnership with National Literacy Trust, and supported by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, the programme provides children and young people with new opportunities to explore and discover poetry in their schools and communities.

(By invitation only)
