Holding Space

Arts, Refugees and Mental Health National Gathering

We explored the role of creativity in supporting the wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers.

We were delighted that we held Holding Space – Arts, Refugees and Mental Health National Gathering Bradford 2025.

Developed in partnership between Bradford 2025 and Counterpoints Arts, this event brought together artists, activists, community groups and health & wellbeing professionals, to explore the role of art and creativity in supporting the wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers.

Counterpoints Arts supports the arts by and about refugees and migrants and works at the intersection of climate justice, racial justice, mental health and displacement. Our arts, refugees and mental health programme has connected people and organisations across different disciplines and facilitates collaboration and shared learning.

A City of Sanctuary since 2010, Bradford has nurtured a culture of welcome and safety for migrant communities.
