Theatres, companies and artists came together for a day of talks and panel discussions to understand the deep-rooted socio-economic inequity in the arts.

Calling all working class creatives from Bradford, Yorkshire and beyond!

Class Assembly

RTYDS (Regional Theatre Young Director Scheme), Common/Wealth, Bradford Producing Hub and Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture invited artists and organisations to come together to explore how arts organisations and industry leaders can create a more equitable cultural sector – one where working class artists can thrive as both creatives and leaders.

The day included guest speakers, panel discussions, artist commissions and a Q&A.

Schedule:

  • 10.30am: Registration and welcome at Loading Bay
  • 11am: Introduction to Fair Play and schedule of the day
  • 11.20am: Morning session
  • 12.30pm: Move to Common Space for lunch
  • 1.45pm: Afternoon session (including a tea break)
  • 4.30pm: Wrap up and thank you

Artist's evening

As part of Class Assembly Bradford, RTYDS, Common/Wealth, Bradford Producing Hub and Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture came together to hold a night of solidarity, connection and celebration for working class artists.

On Thursday 4 September 2025 we headed to Common Space for drinks, performances, music and good chat.
