Bradford Literature Festival: Recipe for Fiction – The Language of Food with Annabel Abbs

Annabel Abbs

We had a thought-provoking celebration of words and nourishment.

A rich and sensory exploration of food, memory, and creativity with acclaimed author Annabel Abbs.

In The Language of Food, Abbs brought to life the story of Eliza Acton, the pioneering 19th-century poet-turned-cookery writer who revolutionised British cuisine.

Abbs delved into the role of women in the kitchen, the power of recipes as storytelling, and how food shapes identity by blending historical fiction with culinary history.
