Bradford Literature Festival: Breaking Bread with Kitty and Al Tait

Kitty & Al Tait

We discovered the life-changing power of baking and bread.

We joined father-daughter duo Kitty and Al Tait, the authors of Breadsong, for a warm and inspiring conversation about baking, resilience, and the joy of doing things together.

From a kitchen in Oxfordshire to national acclaim, their story is one of hope, healing, and the life-changing power of bread.

We discovered how flour, yeast, and a bit of love helped rebuild their lives – and how baking could nourish both body and soul.

About the Big Tasty Read

The Big Tasty Read was a brand-new nationwide campaign that blended the joy of reading with the love of food. Led by Bradford Council’s Bradford Libraries and delivered as part of Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, the campaign featured an exciting programme of events that took place across the Bradford district and beyond.
