Alive & Kicking Drama Adventures
Home educator session
This was a special session for home educated learners.
In The Museum of Untold Stories, children were the heroes of their own stories and became the authors of exciting tales and creators of epic narratives.
This was a special session for home-educated learners (recommended age 6-11), delivered by Alive & Kicking.
Icarus Bly, an agent of MoUS (Museum Of Untold Stories), needed your help to create a brand-new story for a strange and unusual object.
Aladdin had his lamp, Bilbo had a magic ring, Goldilocks had her porridge bowl and Doctor Who wields their sonic screwdriver! All objects with a story – but Icarus had a suitcase full of objects that had mysteriously lost their stories, no one knew where, no one knew how. The objects were looking for your children to help them make brand new tales to tell, write, read and share.
Children created original adventures from scratch and helped save the world from becoming one without the richness that great stories bring to us all.
In this drama adventure children:
- Built a whole story from beginning to end
- Explored oracy
- Developed their descriptive language skills
- Constructed a story arc to completion
- Made character descriptions
- Constructed dialogue
- Problem solved
- Shared ideas and developed shared ideas
- Used drama to release their creativity and discover new skills
How did it work?
Using drama approaches, the group came together to work with the Alive & Kicking practitioner, in role as Icarus Bly, and found a brand-new story for an object that had lost its story.
