Earth & Sky invites us to take a fresh look at the expansive landscape of Penistone Hill Country Park – with music as our guide.

Starting your walk at The Brontë Parsonage Museum, you can download the Earth & Sky app and experience this immersive sound walk on your own device.

You will need to bring your own headphones to use the Earth & Sky app on your own device.

Find out how to download the app and see other useful tips on this page.

Would you prefer to borrow a device with the app already downloaded? You can pre-book a tablet to borrow using the link below.

Step 1

Download the app

Before you set off to explore Earth & Sky, please download the Earth & Sky app on the App Store or Google Play using the links below.

It’s easier to do this at home or when you’re connected to wifi because you may not have mobile data on the moor.

When prompted please allow all permissions on the app including GPS, as this experience uses your live location to trigger the sound walk.

Step 2

Download the walk

Before your visit, use the ‘Download walk’ button in the app to download the walk to your device.

When the app is downloaded, you can head off to the Parsonage to start your Earth & Sky walk.

Step 3

Using the app

Plan your visit to Earth & Sky here.

When you arrive at The Brontë Parsonage Museum, make sure your phone has GPS services switched on.

To use the app once you arrive, just connect your own headphones, open the app, press Play walk and go and explore!

The app shows a map of the walk. Each sound world is depicted by a shape or zone. You can click on these zones to find out more about each composition.

The walk is self guided and GPS triggered, so you can simply roam the moors and let the sounds travel into your headphones without having to press play when you arrive in a zone.

The experience lasts around 1 hour 30 minutes.

When you’ve finished exploring, press “stop walk”. You’ll see a pop up that leads you to our feedback form – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
