Bradford Culture

Explore the history of two remarkable Bradford buildings and communities.

Developed in collaboration with The Linking Network, this pack explores the history of two remarkable Bradford buildings and communities. The Sweet Centre Restaurant and The Bradford Synagogue sit just across the road from each other in Manningham. Over many years, a strong friendship has developed between the people connected to these spaces. Learners engage with ideas around neighbourliness, cross-community friendship and local connection. Specialist educators have designed religious studies activities to fit within the religious studies curriculum.

The pack features artwork by two Bradford-based artists, inspired by the themes of the story: Emily Parkin, whose collage-based illustrations draw on her marquetry practice and Ismaha Farooq, a digital illustrator whose work appears throughout the pack.
