CHANNELS
Take a seat at our waterside listening benches and tune into audio artworks created especially for Bradford 2025.
From summer 2025
Where does the natural world begin and end? What do our canals and reservoirs mean to us? How do we shape these bodies of water – and how do they shape us?
CHANNELS is a series of audio artworks inspired by three human-made bodies of water in Bradford District. Created by Bradford-based duo Turbynes, the audio artworks will be accessed at special listening benches next to the bodies of water that have inspired them: Bingley Five Rise Locks, Chellow Dean Reservoirs, and the Mirror Pool in City Park.
CHANNELS is a collection of stories, soundscapes and musings, and an invitation to stop, slow down and simply listen. Submerge yourself in a collection of sound journeys that ripple between the imagined and the real – the histories and futures of these unique structures explored through authentic voices, reflective soundscapes and big ideas.
CHANNELS will be accessible on listening benches at the three locations via QR code, so please remember to bring your smart device and headphones/earphones.
