Walk a mile or more in our shoes.

Bradford on Foot is a rich collection of themed walks and tours around 2025’s UK City of Culture, from secret streets and hidden gems to the great wide open.

The walks in Bradford on Foot have been selected especially for Bradford 2025 by walking groups, historians, schoolchildren, artists and the people of Bradford District.

There are lots of routes to follow, from country hikes to neighbourhood strolls. Download the walks to your mobile device or pick up free paper copies, tie your laces, then get walking in your own time and at your own pace – or join your fellow ramblers on one of the special guided walks we’re hosting throughout the year.

Why not walk a mile (or more) in our shoes?

Download the walks below or pick up a printed map in your local Bradford library.

Top tips for walkers

Whether you’re a seasoned rambler or someone putting on their walking boots for the first time, we’ve gathered a few top tips to help make sure you enjoy these Bradford on Foot walks and stay safe in the countryside.

Follow the Countryside Code
The Countryside Code is a handy guide for everyone exploring the countryside, reminding us to close gates, take our litter home, and more. Check out the Code on the gov.uk website.

Prepare for the weather
Planning a walk on a summer’s day, or in the middle of winter? The weather can change quickly whatever time of year it is, so remember to dress for the weather and bring a coat, wear layers, and wear suitable shoes.

Keep dogs on leads
To help keep your pets, other walkers, livestock and wildlife safe, please keep dogs on leads when you’re walking in the countryside, particularly during the spring/summer lambing season.

Look out for wildlife and livestock
Some Bradford on Foot walks will pass through or near farmland, or areas where you might find livestock and wildlife, including ground nesting birds. Please look out for signs with information and be careful not to disturb animals you meet.

Stick to the route
The routes in our Bradford on Foot walks are tried and tested. They’re clearly marked on the downloadable maps, so please stick to the routes highlighted.
