Bradford Culture Company Ltd (BCCL) is a charity funded by a combination of sponsorship, public donations, grants from statutory funders and central government funding. BCCL is committed to responsible stewardship of these funds. This policy sets out the commitments, priorities, principles and procedures which guide our procurement of goods and services and ensures our commitment to transparency and accountability.

We will achieve value for money in all our procurement activities. We define value not only in terms of cost and quality but also of our guiding principle of procuring locally, sustainably and in support of the artistic vision.

We take our responsibility seriously to spend money in accordance with this policy. We aim to obtain the best possible outcome for the City of Culture’s ambition in applying this policy.

Local

We will always start our procurement with ‘local first’ as an objective.

This means that when we are going to tender, we will give additional weighting to local suppliers in this order: Bradford, West Yorkshire, Yorkshire, The North.

When we are using our Approved Supplier List, we will give Bradford suppliers the first opportunity to quote.

We will advertise high value contracts on our website and share with local stakeholders.

Sustainable

Our goal is to set the standard for sustainable cultural events.

We will include sustainability criteria in all our procurement tenders.

We will measure and reduce our overall carbon footprint by analysing our supply chain.

We will work with our suppliers to identify opportunities for sustainable solutions to deliver our programme.

Where possible, we will consider the environmental and social impact of our procurement decisions, prioritising ethical, sustainable and socially responsible suppliers.

Supporting the Artistic Vision

We are committed to maintaining the integrity of the work we present. By focusing on diligent and efficient spending in areas less central to the artistic vision, we can ensure more of our resources are allocated to artists and communities and deliver the best possible programme of events.
