Loading Bay opening hours

Loading Bay is a multipurpose venue and every day is different. For performances and events at Loading Bay, please check the event page for the most up to date start times.

Aside from planned closure times (see below) opening times for the Gallery at Loading Bay are:

  • Thursday, Friday, Saturday: open 12-6pm
  • Sunday: open 12-4pm
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: closed

If you have booked to see an evening performance in the Theatre or Basement, the Gallery will be open up to 15 minutes before the performance start time, so that you can explore the Gallery before your event.

During planned closure times the Gallery and building will be closed. Events in the Theatre or Basement will go ahead during these times – check event pages for start times.

Due to exhibition installations, the Gallery at Loading Bay will be closed on the following dates:

  • Until 18 April
  • 15 – 21 May
  • 19 June – 2 July
  • 31 July – 8 August
  • 4 – 17 September
  • 23 – 30 October
  • 27 November – 4 December

Parking

There is no dedicated parking at the venue. The nearest car parks are:

Kirkgate Car Park (Godwin Street): less than 5-minute walk away from Loading Bay

Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday 9am – 5:30pm | Sunday & Bank Holidays 10:30am – 4:30pm

Broadway Car Park (Hall Ings): less than 10-minute walk from Loading Bay

Access and facilities

Loading Bay has three dedicated spaces: a ground floor 200-seater theatre, a first floor gallery and a basement performance and event space. There is lift access to all areas of the building.

Loading Bay aims to be an accessible and inclusive space with step free access, wheelchair and carer spaces on the ground floor theatre and a lift to the gallery and basement floors.

Mobility scooters can be parked in the yard – please ask a member of the front of house team who will advise on a suitable location.

Blue Badge Parking
There are four sites for Blue Badge Parking nearby on Piccadilly and Dale Street. (Please note this is max 2 hour stay.)

Toilets
There are 7 toilets on the ground floor – all gender neutral including an accessible toilet and family change cubicle.

Audio Description, BSL (British Sign Language, and Captioning
We aim to make our events as accessible and inclusive as possible. Please check the event page for details of which events will have Audio Description, BSL and/or captioning.

Assistance animals
Guide dogs and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf are very welcome (please let Box Office know when booking seats).

Pet dogs are permitted in Loading Bay Yard but only assistance dogs are welcome throughout our building. If you are planning to bring an assistance dog to a show please let us know in advance by contacting our Ticketing team on [email protected]

Bags and Cloakroom
We do not have a dedicated cloakroom at Loading Bay.

For the safety and comfort of everyone please avoid bringing in large bags/cases to Loading Bay if possible.

Babychanging and breastfeeding
Loading Bay has babychanging facilities and we welcome breastfeeding mums.

Can children come to Loading Bay?
We do not advise that children under 16 years attend our venue without a responsible adult.  We accept no responsibility for any unaccompanied children and reserve the right to refuse entry if the performance is not appropriate for the child. Any trigger/sensitive content will be listed on the event page of our website.

Prayer Room
Our Front of House team can help you find a quiet space for prayer if you need one.

Sensory/ Quiet Space
A quiet space is available in the building – our front of house team will help direct.

Food and Drink
Food and drink are permitted in the Yard. The Loading Bay will have a selection of drinks and snacks available for purchase at selected events. We do accept cash, although please note that payment via card is preferable where possible.

Wifi
Guest Wi-Fi is available throughout the public spaces. Please ask a member of our team when you arrive for details.

What is the seating capacity of the venue?
196 seats in the ground floor theatre space (including 2 wheelchair spaces)

Is there a box office / ticket office at the venue?
Yes, on performance days, our Ticketing team will be on hand to check your ticket and give you information about upcoming events as part of the Bradford 2025 programme.

What time does the theatre open ahead of a performance?
Audiences will be invited to take their seats 15minutes ahead of the performance

What is your latecomers policy?
If you arrive after the start of the show, our friendly front of house team will direct you to your seats at an appropriate time in the show to minimise disruption. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the time specified on your ticket to avoid disappointment and pay attention to the travel information below.
