Join us for an evening’s discussion between artist and Turner Prize nominee Zadie Xa with writer, curator and former Turner Prize juror Jennifer Higgie.
Together Jennifer and Zadie reflect on her practice and Turner Prize 2025 exhibition Moonlit Confessions Across Deep Sea Echoes: Your Ancestors Are Whales, and Earth Remembers Everything at Cartwright Hall.

About Zadie Xa
Zadie Xa was born in Vancouver, Canada and lives and works in London. She creates installations using painting, sound, textiles and sculpture. These immersive environments are conjured from a wide range of sources and research interests, including ancestry, Korean mythology and folklore, as well as natural and supernatural worlds. She is nominated for the Turner Prize for her solo presentation Moonlit Confessions Across Deep Sea Echoes: Your Ancestors Are Whales, and Earth Remembers Everything at Sharjah Biennial 16, United Arab Emirates.
About Jennifer Higgie
Jennifer Higgie is an Australian writer who lives in London. Her novel Bedlam will be published in the UK and US in 2026. Her recent books include The Other Side: A Story of Women, Art and the Spirit World (2023) and The Mirror and the Palette: Rebellion, Revolution and Resilience: 500 Years of women’s self-portraits (2021). Jennifer is the host of the National Gallery of Australia’s podcast, Artist’s Artists. Her five-part essay for BBC Radio 3, Artists and the Spirit World, is available on BBC iPlayer.
