West Yorkshire Young Poet Laureates – Open Mic

with Sharena Lee Satti

West Yorkshire Young Poet Laureates and other young poets joined us for an afternoon of wonderful words.

Bradford poet Sharena Lee Satti hosted a celebration of the written and spoken word – featuring some of the best young voices in Yorkshire.

Poetry Afternoon at The Beacon featured performances from the two newly crowned West Yorkshire Young Poet Laureates: Max, a year 4 pupil from Pontefract, and Ayeshah, a year 9 pupil from Calderdale.

They were joined by more brilliant young poets who made the shortlist for 2025’s competition, plus other young voices from the district and some of Bradford’s finest professional poets.
