Sustenance: The Power of Food

Edible Archives

A shared meal and discussion on the importance of food in our communities.

Edible Archives, Bradford’s food-as-art pioneers, hosted a meal and discussion with the British Library exploring the power of food to tell the stories of our time.

The heart of Sustenance was a shared meal featuring ingredients gathered from around Bradford District, each of which had a connection to place, community and heritage.

The food served as a backdrop to our eclectic collection of contributors, who shared their experiences of working with food to tell stories – including food historian Polly Russell, a curator at the British Library; members of Bowling Park Community Orchard and Edible Archives (Bradford-based artists Harry Jelley and Sonia Sandhu).
