The Beacon – Bowling Park

Street Sounds & Bhangra Niche

Aswad Arts

Bhangra met bassline for a one-of-a-kind evening at The Beacon.

Exciting young rappers and DJs from across Bradford performed live in Bowling Park as Aswad Arts launched Bhangra Niche 2, a new mixtape-style compilation fusing the sound of bhangra and bassline.

Bhangra Niche 2 builds on the popularity of previous compilation Bhangra Niche 1 back in 2010 – and following a recent revival in the genre, this was an evening of warping basslines mixed with traditional bhangra music.

There were sets from budding Bradford DJs and young rappers from the district who have all honed their skills through Aswad Arts’ Street Sounds programme, supported by Bradford Youth Service.
