A specially commissioned structure that celebrated the holy month of Ramadan.
Centenary Square hosted a striking new structure, that celebrated the lived experiences of Muslims across the globe which was inspired by the month of Ramadan.
Infinite Light was the second edition of the Ramadan Pavilion, a specially commissioned structure that celebrated the holy month of Ramadan – and in 2025, the Pavilion was presented for the first time in Bradford.
The biennial Pavilion was commissioned by Ramadan Tent Project and Bradford 2025 as part of Ramadan Festival 2025 in Bradford, and designed by artist Zarah Hussain and Bradford-based FAUM’s Lead Designer Fatima Mejbil. It was unveiled in Centenary Square on Saturday 15 February, which could have been visited for free throughout Ramadan.
The Ramadan Pavilion celebrated the lived experiences of Muslims across the UK and around the globe, bringing attention to the intersection of the core values and traditions of Ramadan through architectural expression and experimentation.
2025’s Pavilion was a double-archway structure that drew on diverse architectural traditions: from the elegant colonnaded courtyards often seen in sacred and civic spaces, such as those surrounding the holy sanctuary at Mecca, to the pointed and ornate forms of Venetian Gothic architecture, as seen in Bradford’s own City Hall.
Uniting the architectural language of Bradford’s Victorian heritage with the sacred geometry of Islamic design, the Ramadan Pavilion 2025 was a striking space that resonated with the city’s diverse communities.
