David Hoyle lead a celebration of the long-lost and much-missed spaces with a cabaret party.
LGBTQ+ icon David Hoyle lead a celebration of the long-lost and much-missed spaces like the Bavaria and the Junction, longtime landmarks of the Bradford LGBTQ+ scene, with new live art commissions, performances, drag artists and DJs.
We stepped into history at this immersive cabaret and party celebrating and paying homage to lost spaces beloved by LGBTQ+ people in Bradford. We brought our bespoke night to life, with national northern darling David Hoyle for his Bradford debut! Alongside local legends of cabaret Unknown Amazon, Jude Kershaw, Jenn Wilson, Lavender Café Orchestra, (plus special guests) and musician Jasmine Kennedy snag from the heart.
We danced into the night with tunes provided by some of Yorkshire’s finest including Micheal Upson – founder of pumping gay dance party Love Muscle, MelaD who brought a strong femme energy and frequent OUT OUT collaborator and regular on the Leeds scene Luscious.
About the Back in the Pink Weekender
Back in the Pink, Bradford 2025’s series was dedicated to the rich and radical history of LGBTQ+ life in the city, and continued with a weekend-long celebration of gay life – past, present and future.
We travelled back in time to explore the activism, community and culture of Bradford’s LGBTQ+ communities in the late 20th century. We connected with today’s LGBTQ+ community at workshops, discussions and a Saturday-night party. And consider how together, we can preserve our own communities’ histories for generations to come.
