The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC)
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is a renowned British theatre company dedicated to promoting the works of William Shakespeare, his contemporaries, and modern playwrights. Founded in 1961 and based in Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, the RSC strives to make Shakespeare accessible and enjoyable for all.
A significant part of the RSC’s outreach and educational efforts is its Associate Schools Programme. This innovative program partners with schools across the UK to deeply engage students with Shakespeare’s works. Through the programme, the RSC collaborates with teachers and students, providing them with resources, workshops, and professional development opportunities. The initiative aims to enhance the teaching and enjoyment of Shakespeare’s plays, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation among young learners.
The Associate Schools Programme is designed not only to support the curriculum but also to inspire creativity and confidence in students through the transformative power of live theatre. By connecting schools with RSC artists and practitioners, the program ensures that students from diverse backgrounds have meaningful and enriching experiences with Shakespeare’s texts. This approach nurtures a lifelong relationship with the arts, promoting both educational achievement and personal growth.
