MARCH is a powerful and joyful exploration of the rhythms, dynamics, and emotions of political marching, blending monologue, mass protest and an absurdist game show.

Commissioned by Contemporary Music for All (CoMA) and written by composer and theatre-maker Uri Agnon, MARCH brings together local professional and amateur music-makers, director-conductor Matthew Hardy and narrator Elisabeth Gunawan to interrogate the concepts of protest together.

Are you ready to take a stand and MARCH?

CoMA is premiering a new version of Uri Agnon’s vibrant piece MARCH in Bradford and London as part of the New Music Biennial 2025.

MARCH is a powerful and joyful exploration of the rhythms, dynamics and emotions of political marching. Drawing on musical inspirations from political movements around the world, the piece swings between monologue, mass protest and absurdist game show,

There will be two performances: the first at St George’s Hall in Bradford in June 2025, then at London’s Southbank Centre in July 2025 – and we are looking for local instrumentalists and singers aged 16+ who would like to take part in either one.

It’s free to take part, so if you can read 5-line notation to around Grade 3 standard and would like to be part of these amazing performances, come join us!

About this event

This New Music Biennial 2025 event is free, but ticketed. Seating is unallocated and tickets don’t guarantee entry: admission is on a first-come, first-served basis for those with tickets. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

This event includes two performances of the same work and a short interview with the creative team in between the two, enabling audiences to experience the second performance with greater insight into the creative process.
