Greed

Tavaziva Dance

Bawren Tavaziva’s electrifying dance piece reimagined the Seven Deadly Sins for the 21st century.

Tavaziva Dance came to The Beacon with Greed, an exhilarating dance piece set to an infectious soundtrack.

Greed is a dynamic retelling of the Seven Deadly Sins from choreographer Bawren Tavaziva, born in Zimbabwe and now based in the UK. The show considers the interplay of money, power and religion between African and Western cultures in the 21st century – performed by a cast of five dancers to a vibrant soundtrack.

First performed to great acclaim in 2013, Greed was revised and remounted for 2025 – and performed in Bradford for the first time at The Beacon.

About the artists

Tavaziva Dance is renowned for its beautiful and dynamic blend of contemporary, ballet and African dance. Founded in 2004, the acclaimed company makes original contemporary African choreography that excites, transforms and enriches people’s experience of dance.
