Saturday 24 May is family fun day at The Beacon.

We’re welcoming children, young people, their parents and carers to Bowling Park for an afternoon of family-friendly workshops, activities and performances. It’s free and there’s no need to book – just drop in. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Running order:

  • 2-3pm: Omotola and Friends will bring the heartbeat of Africa to The Beacon from the rhythm of the talking drum to the soul of the sax.
  • 2-4pm: Bradford Libraries will be providing craft activities for families as well as information about their services.
  • 2-5pm: Facepainting by Ninja Llama Parties and Gina
  • 2-5pm: Icecreamery will be selling ice creams for £2. The first 150 will be free of charge!
  • 2-5pm: Forest School explore the outdoors and the green spaces with various equipment and crafts provided by BD4 Community Trust
  • 2-5pm: Posey Packers will be bringing two alpacas for families to pet and interact with.
  • 2-5pm: Multi Sports – Emerge young people’s charity will bring various games, mini-sports and challenges to try out with friends and family including badminton, kick tennis, tug-of-war and more.
  • 2-5pm: Labrynth Experience – The Labyrinth project will set up two large labyrinth paths for people to walk, and there will be opportunity to make a handheld labyrinth to take home. Delivered by Emerge young people’s charity.
  • 2-5pm: Art with Friends of Bowling Park – nature printing art activity and an opportunity to become a friend of Bowling Park.
  • 2:15-5:30pm: Zumba and HIIT – Opportunity to take part in two different aerobic/ high intensity fitness sessions to support movement, mobility and physical health using various sport equipment.
  • 2:30-3pm: TK Gym Fit present a performance of gymnastics by the children and young people from the TK Gym Fit club based in BD4.
  • 2:30-4:30pm: Creative Storytelling – bringing the Gruffalo & Sharing a Shell story’s to life with parachute games & large bubbles.
  • 2:30-4:30pm: Football Coaching – Games and activities focused on building skill and technique in football.
  • 5-7pm: Chill Out & Food – Free food to be served by the Bowling Collective – time to chill out share food, tell stories together and listen to live music.

We’ll be announcing more performances and activities shortly, along with a full timetable of events so you can plan your day.

The Beacon is a custom-made touring venue for Bradford 2025.
