The BBC’s music discovery platform takes over The Beacon for an open mic night of live music, featuring headliner Oliver Pinder.

Take your turn in the spotlight or simply watch the next big thing at this special BBC Introducing showcase at The Beacon in Wibsey Park.

Whatever your experience and whatever your genre, you’ll have the chance to sign up on the night and showcase your skills and talent. Outstanding acts on the night could potentially hear their performances broadcast on BBC Introducing in Leeds and Sheffield, alongside some of the best up-and-coming talent from West and South Yorkshire. The night will also feature up-close-and-personal performances from musicians championed by BBC Introducing.

Headline Act: Oliver Pinder

Hailing from Bradford, Oliver’s self-proclaimed “sad-boy indie pop” sound draws from a dynamic mix of guitar-driven alternative anthems, taking inspiration from artists like Matilda Mann, Bleachers and Wunderhorse.

Songs from his debut EP, Potential, I Guess? featured on BBC Radio 6 and BBC Introducing in Leeds and Sheffield and he’s performed across the UK including at festivals The Great Escape, Humber Street Sesh and Long Division.

If you’d like to perform at the open mic you need to…

  • Buy a ticket from the link below
  • Arrive early and sign up from 7.30pm ahead of an 8pm start – it’s first-come, first-served
  • Bring whatever you need for a small, stripped back performance or backing track / USB (no instruments will be provided)

Since its inception, BBC Introducing has championed unsigned British musicians since its inception through the BBC Introducing Uploader, with 23 local radio shows and six national shows on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Asian Network, and BBC Radio 6 Music. Many successful artists, including Ed Sheeran, Raye, Olivia Dean, Sam Fender, and Loyle Carner, began their careers with support from BBC Introducing.

This event is part of a series of collaborations and events between BBC Introducing and Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture.
