St George’s Hall
Bassline Symphony
The sound of our city as you’d never heard it before.
In May 2025, bassline's crackling rhythms and pulsing low end was supercharged by Opera North’s magnificent orchestra - under the baton of Garry Walker, Opera North’s Music Director.
Bassline is among the most thrilling musical subcultures of the 21st century. Bradford is a hotbed of this electrifying music, but it has never sounded quite like this!
In the stunning Victorian splendour of St George’s Hall, bassline was performed with a live orchestra for the very first time. The crowd danced and sang the night away as 4×4 icons Jamie Duggan, DJ Q and TS7 joined arranger Katie Chatburn and the Orchestra of Opera North for a one-night-only celebration curated by Tanya Vital.
Take a listen back to some of our favourite moments from the night and hear more about the history of bassline in Bradford in our Tiktok series, BFD Bassline, featuring some bassline legends. We’re all about the bassline!
