One of the District’s best-known parks, Lister Park was created by Samuel Cunliffe Lister, a wealthy local mill owner. In 1870 he sold it to Bradford Corporation at a bargain price, on the agreement it should be used as a public park for everyone to enjoy.

Originally known as the grounds of Manningham Hall (the family residence of the Cunliffe family), the park is now home to Cartwright Hall Art Gallery.

Strolling around the park is a popular activity for many Bradford residents: Anne Griffin, Bruce Barnes and Sadia Kousar, all suggested Lister Park in our public call out for Bradford’s best walks.

Lovingly cared for by Bradford Council Parks team, this green oasis is a true Bradford gem!
