The Response zine was born out of a Bradford Council programme of the same name, which has supported 55 artists, creatives, and cultural groups across the district with a series of grants during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The zine celebrates a snapshot of some of those activities, and illustrates the remarkable creative strength of a hungry and ambitious district. A separate fold-out map shows exactly where all the Response projects were happening throughout the Bradford district during lockdown.
The Response grants programme was launched by Bradford Council to help the creative, arts and cultural sector through funded projects. a package of support aimed to harness the power of the creative sector towards helping to reduce social isolation and improve residents’ health and wellbeing during the difficult lockdown period.
Helping residents to connect with each other without leaving their homes and build on their sense of community, a range of innovative creative projects were launched, displaying the remarkable creative strength of the district.
The zine was made from home by Si Cunningham Jimmy Smith of Smiths Workshop and was printed at South Square Centre.
